In anticipation of the possible need at short notice for available space to treat military personnel, Maternity hospitals in the south of the country have temporarily reduced their activities, and large numbers of expectant mothers from the south are being welcomed by Mayanei Hayeshua’s Maternity Department. Many of their families were forced to flee their homes and are now living in unfamiliar emergency accommodation. As part of our warm embrace, the new mothers receive special care packages donated by Mayanei Hayeshua Women’s Forum and other well-wishers. The packages include strollers, baby clothes, toiletries, clothes for other family members and food – everything that can lighten the physical and emotional burden of these mothers. The Mayanei Hayeshua social workers are also busy helping to arrange Brit Mila (circumcision) ceremonies and fitting out empty apartments with furniture and other essentials.
